Weeknight Music

Weeknight Music

Picture
In September 2008, 17 of the most talented young musicians in Los Angeles recorded for two days at Studio 606 in Burbank, CA to record the 11 songs that became Elliot Deutsch Big Band's debut album Weeknight Music.  Using time-tested recording techniques and incomparable, old-school equipment an authentic set of classic big band jazz was captured.  The solos were captured live with the band so that the music breathes with life.  Over the next 2 months, the songs were expertly mixed by John Avila (Oingo Boingo, Reel Big Fish) and then mastered at Capitol Records on the same board that mastered countless classic big band albums.

The brightest new jazz orchestra in Southern California.
Weeknight Music was released in May 2009 to a packed house at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, CA.  In his review of the album, Scott Yanow (LA Jazz Scene) called Elliot Deutsch Big Band, "the brightest new jazz orchestra in Southern California."  Jack Bowers (All About Jazz) raves, "Weeknight Music, as it turns out, is suitable for any time of day or night, for weekends, holidays and any type of special occasion where the music music be sultry and swinging."  Wildy Haskell writes that "Weeknight music is brilliant, balancing a healthy look forward with a clear reminiscence of where Jazz came from; all from a young man who sports what may be one of the brightest young talents in jazz."

Weeknight Music is available for purchase on iTunes and is streaming on Spotify.
